Indonesia established its official crypto-exchange framework in 2023

Archive note: This article replaces speculative 2022 reporting with the later official framework.

Indonesia's commodity-futures regulator Bappebti established and approved the country's crypto futures exchange framework in July 2023. The regulator maintains official records for the exchange and registered or approved crypto-asset traders.

The earlier article discussed reported ownership and control proposals before that framework was finalised. Current licensing or registration status should always be checked against Bappebti's live official records rather than inferred from old reporting.

Primary sources: Bappebti crypto-exchange register; Bappebti launch record, 28 July 2023.
