SEC obtained emergency relief in the 2022 CryptoFX case

Archive note: This article concerns an SEC enforcement action filed in September 2022.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission filed an emergency action against CryptoFX LLC and individuals associated with it, alleging a Ponzi scheme that targeted Latino investors. The court granted temporary relief including an asset freeze and appointment of a receiver.

Those steps preserved assets and the status quo while litigation proceeded. Allegations and emergency relief are not the same as a final finding of liability, and this article does not treat them as such.
